Laurent Peacock
Laurent designs and crafts one-of-a-kind, contemporary, fine furniture for interior designers, private clients and exhibitions. Having studied Industrial Design at university he later went on to train under the guiding hand of respected designer Marc Fish at Robinson House Studio. His inspiring time training with and later working for Marc was the driving force behind his decision to pursue a career as an independent designer-maker. This was further reinforced by the realisation that he gained the most satisfaction when he brought to life pieces that he himself had designed.
“I think craft speaks of a genuine consideration of materials, provenance, honesty of approach and skill in fabrication”
Laurent was awarded the Bespoke Guild Mark from the Furniture Maker’s Company in 2017, the same year he completed his training in furniture making. He was judged on elements relating to design, function, material choice and quality of craftsmanship - the award is the highest accolade that can be awarded to a furniture maker. He says that his love of furniture exists on a very human scale, sitting somewhere in the middle ground between jewellery and architecture. “I like to think of my pieces as drawing something from each end of that spectrum – the intricate attention to detail necessary of the jeweller combined with the balance, proportion and physical robustness demanded by the architect.”
