Winch Design unveils Project Master interior with Icon Yachts at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show

Winch Design is proud to announce an exciting collaboration with ICON Yachts, crafting the interiors for the 70-metre Project MASTER. Reborn from a historical offshore rescue and standby vessel, MASTER, almost 3,000 GT, is crafted to explore the world's most remote and uncharted regions. She will serve as a platform for creating unforgettable experiences and venturing into the farthest corners of the globe.

Project MASTER was first unveiled at the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show. This year, the thrilling announcement of the new design was made on the opening day of the prestigious event. Acclaimed designer and naval architect Espen Øino is responsible for her new appearance. While a significant part of the original platform and superstructure will remain, a new extended stern section, incorporating Voith eVSP propellers and an aft swim platform, will bring the total length to an imposing 70 meters.

The design of MASTER’s interior aims to create a harmonious space where family and friends can gather, adventures can be launched, and the connection with the ocean can inspire exploration. It is envisioned as a sanctuary that balances luxury with functionality, offering an environment where every detail enhances both exploration and comfort.

Jim Dixon, Managing Partner & Creative Director of Yachts & Aviation at Winch Design, said, “MASTER is the ultimate exploration vessel, and we are delighted to be working with ICON Yachts to offer a platform for discovering uncharted territories. At the heart of the design is a constant connection with the surrounding seascape, and an ambience of social relaxation and adventurous episodes. Each layer of the interior tells a story, taking guests on a journey of discovery through the depths of the ocean.”

Inspired by the ocean’s layers, each deck within MASTER transitions seamlessly through a journey of light, texture, and depth, while incorporating subtle references to the vessel’s working heritage. The interplay of light and dark, combined with the careful selection of materials, enhances the experience onboard.

At the top of the yacht, the Owner’s Deck draws inspiration from the serene surface of the ocean, with soft blue and sandy accents mimicking the tranquil light on shallow waters. As you descend through the decks, the tones and textures shift, mirroring the ocean’s evolving depths. The Wellness Deck offers a serene escape, with richer hues and softer lighting, evoking the cooler, deeper waters. Replicating the mysterious depths of the deeper layers, the Main Deck uses darker tones and distinct textures to create an intimate and introspective atmosphere.

Sustainability is also a cornerstone of this project, with Winch Design utilising eco-friendly materials and suppliers. The studio’s Sustainable Materials Specialist ensured that materials were chosen for their innovative environmental properties, aligning with the studio’s long-standing commitment to responsible luxury.
