WINCH DESIGN DELIVERS HIGH FIVE SAILING YACHT

Winch Design is delighted to announce the delivery of 29m (88ft) sailing yacht High Five. High Five is a performance cruising sloop, built by Fibre Mechanics in Lymington, UK. The yacht features naval architecture by Bill Tripp and an interior designed by Winch Design. The project represents the realisation of a deeply personal vision for our client: a passionate design enthusiast with a longstanding love of the sea and a desire to create a yacht that feels, above all, like home. The exterior aft deck, cockpit and interior space are designed to support family life, celebrate craftsmanship, and reflect the joy of life on the water.

Inspired by timeless contemporary nautical aesthetics, the interior embraces a refined yet relaxed material palette, combining cream, tan and dark brown leathers with navy blues, limed oak and teak flooring, and subtle rope detailing. These references to traditional maritime design are reinterpreted with a contemporary softness - matte and sateen finishes dominate, avoiding gloss and synthetic sheen in favour of tactile, natural surfaces. Timber is left exposed and celebrated, with veneer-clad walls creating a warm, natural aesthetic throughout. In the salon, the mast is thoughtfully incorporated into the design, wrapped in textured leather from the Winch Design / Foglizzo range and embossed with a subtle rope pattern.

Functionality was a driving force from the start. The layout was designed for a highly active, family-oriented lifestyle - where water sports, shared meals, games, reading, and even karaoke are part of daily life. At the heart of the interior is a generous open-plan, multi-functional deck house lounge with an integrated galley in prime position, designed for the owners to cook for themselves, recreating the comfort of home life ashore. With the dining area opposite the galley, enhanced by a 360 view of the space, it flows seamlessly into the lower lounging and study area, creating a cohesive, connected space that encourages family time together. The aft deck beach-BBQ area and carefully styled cockpit arrangement caters for daily life and multiple family activities, integrating the functionality of the spaces both aesthetically and ergonomically, seamlessly supporting an indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

The full-beam owner’s suite offers a sense of both openness and retreat, with large windows on both sides featuring blackout solutions. Every detail is intentionally layered - from the rope-embossed leathers to mood lighting and skylights, adding quiet references to the nautical theme that runs throughout. Furniture and fittings were intentionally informal. While crafted to an exceptional standard, the fitted pieces were designed to feel loose and relaxed, creating a true home-from-home atmosphere. Guest cabins offer flexibility, with twin beds and individual colour palettes that allow each space to feel distinct yet harmonious, united by delicate rope artwork on the walls. The starboard cabin can convert to a double adding flexibility to the layout. In keeping with the client's desire for a minimal crew presence, even the crew and captain’s cabins match the finish quality of guest areas, reinforcing a relaxed onboard atmosphere.

The innovation in this interior lies in the integration of lifestyle with design: a yacht that functions as a home, adapts to dynamic family life and blurs the boundaries between inside and out. Dining and lounging areas, and a navigation desk that doubles as a home office or study space reflect the yacht’s multipurpose nature to allow maximum versatility. Every element - spatial flow, material selection, subtle indirect lighting, and detailing works in service of comfort, usability, and emotional connection. In addition, all materials have been carefully engineered to achieve an extreme lightweight interior, enabling efficient sailing performance and a very low draft limited to 2m, granting access to the best anchorage spots in the Bahamas.

This yacht is a deeply personal platform for living. A home on the water. A space where luxury meets liveability, and where every detail reflects the values of its owners: freedom, family, and a profound connection to the sea.
