THE FINISHING TOUCH
From the first figure to the delivery and dressing, every detail is seamlessly managed.
Every Winch project, whether on land, in the air, or at sea, is completely unique. What unites them all is an immaculate and holistically driven attention to detail and a team weaving every element together. From a small refit to a fully custom project, the Winch Design team delivers with the same passion and precision.
Working closely with project management and design teams, the experienced procurement team follow a trusted process to ensure the client's vision is exactly delivered at the completion of the project.
Throughout this process - from creating initial budgets, placing orders, quality inspections and organising delivery - the procurement team work alongside the client’s team, crew and contractors to ensure all items are delivered as specified, in budget and on time.

The Process
BUDGET AND TENDERING
The procurement team provide an outline budget for approval, divided into separate packages such as furniture, lighting, tableware and accessories. Winch Design ensures the best possible cost for clients by implementing a thorough tender process for custom items and drawing on nearly 40 years of relationships with trusted suppliers.

SCHEDULING
The development of a clear schedule is crucial to delivering projects on time. The delivery schedule indicates when sign-off and funds are required for the different packages, working back from the project delivery date. The procurement team will coordinate with client teams, contractors and completion centres to agree the schedule.

SPECIFICATION
Following approval of the outline budget, the team will liaise with suppliers to obtain final quotations for all specified items. Many years of experience mean the procurement team know which artisans, craftsmen or manufacturers to approach for every custom piece.

“Successful project completion relies on design and procurement being interwoven. Our design and procurement teams work seamlessly to ensure the best possible outcome for delivery of the vision.”
Helen Rolfs, Partner, Procurement
ORDERING
Once the final budget and specifications are agreed and finalised, funds will be requested in line with the delivery schedule. The ordering process will commence, which involves placing and managing all orders, approving invoices for payment and continued liaison with suppliers to ensure the orders remain on schedule and in budget.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Throughout the procurement process, custom designs continue to be developed through detailed sketches, drawing approvals, mock-ups and quality control checks. Ergonomics are considered: sitting height, is the client right or left-handed, and will this area be used by children? The team perfect the detail while always considering the space as a whole.

INSPECTIONS
Every piece of furniture, lighting or decorative item supplied is carefully inspected to ensure it is of the highest possible quality. An item won’t be signed off until this process has taken place. The team will travel to workshops all over the world for inspections and will then complete one further inspection prior to shipment, to ensure everything is in perfect condition.

DELIVERY
From export paperwork and customs clearance to packing and crating, handling and storage, Winch Design manages every aspect of delivery – ensuring all items come together at the right place, at the right time and in perfect condition.

INSTALLATION
The installation can require as much skill as the creation of the piece. The help of master craftsmen, artists and entire specialist installation teams are enlisted to make sure that a custom piece is expertly installed. Winch Design work closely with the client team to ensure all items are delivered according to the agreed schedule.

DRESSING
Dressing is the point at which a client’s dream is fully realised. Once every item has been produced, carefully inspected, delivered and installed, the Winch Design team then works to complete the space, dressing it with details such as decorative objects, picture frames, books, candles and throws.

PROJECT AFTERCARE
Upon completion, the project will be fully reconciled. Winch Design will supply a care manual to ensure the successful maintenance of the items supplied. An aftercare service to respond to all client needs will also be provided, whether it is replacing a lost teaspoon or sourcing additional items.
