Sky – the Worlds Tallest Sloop Sailing Yacht is Ready to Build

Winch Design is proud to unveil Project Sky, an 81m sloop sailing yacht set to feature the world’s tallest mast. The project brings together an exceptional collaboration: Winch Design for the elegant interior, Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design for the ambitious naval architecture and exterior styling, and Royal Huisman as the renowned shipyard entrusted with the build.

Sky is designed for world cruising with exceptional sailing performance. Her long waterline, lift keel, and full aluminium construction with optimized weight distribution, combined with a powerful Rondal rig, make her a true XXL superyacht. Featuring the world’s tallest sloop rig, surpassing the current record-holder by approximately four metres - Sky is capable of sailing faster than the wind and outpacing a motor yacht of similar length. At the helm, the integrated sailing system, twin carbon-composite rudders, and intuitive controls deliver the manoeuvrability and simplicity of a performance sailing yacht under 50m, bringing unmatched ease and precision to handling such a large vessel.

The interior of Sky is inspired by the beauty and balance of nature and accommodates up to 12 guests in refined comfort. Designed as a serene sanctuary at sea, the interior features clean, sculptural lines, natural textures, and calm palettes enhanced by subtle artisan detailing. Every element blurs the boundaries between inside and out, evoking coastal landscapes through an elevated, architectural lens.

At the heart of the yacht, the full-beam owner’s stateroom is a serene retreat offering direct access to the expansive aft beach deck. Flooded with natural light from full-height windows, this private suite features a raised bed positioned for panoramic ocean views, complemented by a tranquil palette of rich yet calming tones. In “night mode,” the space transforms into a cozy cocoon - inviting the feeling of sleeping beneath the stars. The stateroom also includes ‘his and hers’ dressing rooms and bathrooms, each with cylindrical feature showers.

Throughout Sky, contrasting light and dark timbers, ambient architectural lighting, and smooth, angular forms create a cohesive visual language. Guest cabins are thoughtfully arranged, combining open layouts and subtle textures to create a sense of calm and spaciousness. Each cabin features refined materials and sophisticated detailing, ensuring guests enjoy the same harmonious connection to the sea.

Wellness and relaxation are central to the onboard experience. The midship spa, complete with sauna, steam room, and a folding platform that opens directly to the ocean offers a soothing sanctuary for reflection after an active day. Connected seamlessly to the watersports embarkation lounge, the spa and watersports centre form an oasis for both adventure and tranquillity. The watersports centre also includes a self-service bar nook, the perfect spot to begin or end the day’s expeditions.

Ascending the sculptural staircase to the main deck, guests enter an open-plan lounge and dining area designed for connection and ease. Flamed dark timber unites the space, while polished metal, bold stone, and subtle textures create an atmosphere of understated sophistication. Sliding doors open fully to merge the interior with the aft deck, offering a seamless transition to the outdoors.

Outside, the elegance continues in the cockpit, where relaxed dining areas and sculpted seating provide the perfect alfresco retreat. Folding balconies on both port and starboard extend the connection to the water, while low-level lighting enhances the serene evening ambiance. Expansive decks and panoramic windows ensure uninterrupted views of the horizon, whether at sea or at anchor. From its harmonious interiors to its open, flowing decks, Project Sky redefines the sailing experience. Every space invites relaxation, freedom, and a profound connection to the ocean.

With the design, naval architecture, and the majority of engineering already complete, Sky is ready to build. Scheduled for delivery in Spring 2030, the project offers a significantly accelerated timeline compared to the typical six-year-plus process from initial briefings to completion. This makes Sky an exceptional opportunity for a new owner, with the flexibility to personalise both layout and style, save significant development time and achieve a truly bespoke and unique supersized sailing yacht.
