Winch design unveils exclusive new collection in collaboration with the rug company
Winch Design has partnered once again with The Rug Company to launch the Surface & Stillness collection - a captivating new series of handwoven rugs that celebrate the subtle beauty of nature's organic forms. Drawing inspiration from the sculptural gestures found in the natural world, this collection explores the quiet elegance of natural textures, bringing the rhythms of the earth into interior spaces.
Surface & Stillness presents a refined study of texture and tone, using wool, silk and natural hemp to create rugs that echo the flowing patterns of wind, shifting dunes and the delicate lines left by the tide. Each piece is a reimagined abstract topography underfoot, where natural motifs are woven into every thread.
“We wanted to translate the hidden geometry of nature - the patterns in leaves, stones, and water - into something tactile and inviting,” says Selina McCabe, Director at Winch Design. “Surface & Stillness is a dialogue between structure and spontaneity, where the quiet mathematics of the natural world is traced in every thread. Each rug captures the earth’s rhythms, transforming them into soft, tactile surfaces that invite both touch and contemplation.”
Crafted using the finest natural fibres, including hand-knotted wool, silk and hemp, the collection creates a compelling contrast between matte and sheen, softness and structure, earth and air.
