He gained extensive international experience before joining Winch Design in 2008 and since then has managed and completed complex private projects for clients in all corners of the world. Having built an energetic and open environment, he guides the teams both creatively and strategically. Simon is incredibly affable and has a hugely positive and motivational influence on the Winch Design team. He uses his natural leadership, communication and design skills to drive creativity forward and particularly enjoys client interaction, taking immense pride in turning dreams into reality.
One of my favourite architectural studios is Manuel Cervantes Estudio which is based in Mexico City, I love their contextual and material approach to design. Commune Design in Los Angeles use pared back and interesting materials layered with clean furniture and colour. I love getting outdoors and as a native South African, one of my favourite places is The Karoo. I can’t get enough of books by Neil Gaiman, Michael Lewis and Elif Shafak. I find DIY hugely relaxing and I relish getting stuck into a project. Sourcing beautiful mid-century furniture has been a keen hobby of mine since my wife and I refurbished our home. Two Danish sideboards are currently taking pride of place in our living room - still room for plenty more!
